PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate to rank document information desired by a user at a higher rank of retrieval results when retrieving document information in a database. SOLUTION: A user being a retrieving user retrieves all the past documents the user browses, and determines other users who refer to the documents as users who have objects of interests and preferences which are similar to those of the retrieving user. This user information is used for ranking processing (S1008 and S1009) of keyword retrieval results. That is to say, by ranking retrieval results by information of users who refer to the same documents as the retrieving user in the past, document information referred to by the users who have preferences similar to those of the retrieving user are ranked at a higher rank of the retrieval results for display.
