PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute noise reducing processing within appropriate parameters even when there is change in type of a scope, change with the passage of time, or change in environment in an endoscope image processing apparatus. SOLUTION: An endoscope image P0 obtained by actually taking a shot of a subject by an endoscope is divided into several regions and an image variance valueσ<SB>(s+n)</SB><SP>2</SP>of pixel values is calculated for each region. After that, a noise variance valueσ<SB>n</SB><SP>2</SP>indicating characteristics of noise contents of the endoscope image P0 is estimated from the image variance valueσ<SB>(s+n)</SB><SP>2</SP>. The endoscope image P0 is subjected to noise reducing processing by using a wiener filter by using the noise variance valueσ<SB>n</SB><SP>2</SP>. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
