<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an S/N from being deteriorated in the frequency band to be used for contour emphasis at a place where a gain is increased for correcting shading. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Input video signals are combined after performing shading correction processing and contour emphasis processing thereon through different processing systems and an output video signal is produced, whereby an S/N is prevented from being deteriorated in the frequency band to be used for contour emphasis at a place where a gain is increased for correcting shading.
