<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a health check device of a communication device which prevents deterioration of transfer performance when having a high frequency of normal response communication, without correcting firmware. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The health check device of the communication device has: a command decoding part; a timer control part which outputs a timer value at the time of receiving notification of a command determined by the command decoding part to a return determination control part; the return determination control part which compares a health check interval with a time interval which is difference between a timer count value of a timer at the time of receiving notification of a reply command received by normal response communication performed at last and a timer count value at the time of receiving notification of a health check command received after the reply command to determine propriety of the return communication of the health check command; and a return conversion control part which converts the health check communication into the return communication of the health check command when it is determined that it is necessary to perform the return communication of the health check command.
