<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a disposable wearing article, which reduces manufacture cost and improves commodity value. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method includes: a process of sandwiching an elastic member 4 between two webs 10, 11 in a length direction of webs 10, 11 in expanded conditions to manufacture an elastic belt material 12; a process of reducing the contracting strength of the elastic member near a part constituting the protrusion of first and second elastic belt materials before the elastic belt material 12 is divided into two (the first and second elastic belt materials) so that the protrusion and the recession alternately appear; a process of dividing the elastic belt material 12 into two; a process of separating the first and second elastic belt materials in a width direction; a process of shifting the first and second elastic belt materials in a length direction so that a phase of the protrusion and the recession are in the same phase; and a process of attaching an absorbent 2 across a site 12c made by reducing the contracting strength of a first elastic belt material 12A and a second elastic belt material 12A.
