PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the shape of a piston top face part for heightening the squish effect and combustion efficiency by improving the direction of transmitting the extruded pressure of unburnt gas due to a squish area and the direction of transmitting the pressure of burnt gas caused by ignition. SOLUTION: The reciprocal directions of pressure are improved to heighten the squish effect, thereby enlarging the squish area and increasing the quantity of unburnt gas extruded to heighten the combustion efficiency. A plug insert port, a primary combustion chamber and a central part bearing the shape of a combustion gas connecting passage are set in a semi-spherically recessed area of the piston top face part. In an ignition plug, the tip is extended long to perform ignition in the interior of the primary combustion chamber. When the piston reaches the upper dead point in the compression stroke, the plug tip is inserted form the plug insert port to perform ignition in the primary combustion chamber. When the burnt gas jets out to the main combustion chamber, the ignited combustion gas is remarkably reduced in collision with the unburnt gas extruded from the squish area from the side.
