The method involves positioning a camera (14) on a given position relative to a profile processing machine. A tool image of a tool of the profile processing machine is recorded with the camera. An envelope-curve of the tool is assigned to the tool image, where the tool image is represented on a display device. The envelope-curve is represented on the display device, so that the envelope-curve is examined. Position information of the tool is determined based on the envelope-curve. The tool is moved to a predetermined reference-position based on the position information. An independent claim is also included for an adjusting system adjusting a profile processing machine for processing of wood or wood substitute materials in a continuous process.
