<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a monitoring system capable of easily achieving monitoring through an IEEE 1394 interface provided in an AV apparatus spread to general households. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Data transfer through the information communication device 1 and connection apparatus control are executed, and when abnormality occurs in a monitoring object, the recording medium and status etc., of the AV apparatus connected to the information communication device 1 are acquired and an apparatus to perform recording is determined. Further, even when the power source of the AV apparatus connected to the information communication device 1 is in an off state when the abnormality occurs in the monitoring object, a power source on state is attained by control from the information communication device 1.
