<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable for preventing a damage due to a puncture by an ovipositor of a cicada without use of a protection element, and having a flameproof property. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the optical fiber cable, an optical fiber core 13 (13') and a tension member 14 are disposed in parallel. The optical fiber cable is integrally covered with a sheath 15. When a breaking strength of the sheath 15 is α (MPa), a modulus of elongation is β (MPa) and a breaking elongation is γ(%), the optical fiber cable is formed by a resin material for satisfying α×β×γ>5.0×10<SP>6</SP>.
