<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device and a projection display device capable of improving display quality by preventing interference between pixels caused by a parasitic capacitance between adjoining pixel electrodes. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electro-optical device 100 has an element substrate 10, on which a shield line 7a is formed in a region overlapping a gap region 9s interposed by adjoining pixel electrodes 9a in an X direction and in a Y direction. Since a fixed potential is applied to the shield line 7a, a parasitic capacitance generating between adjoining pixel electrodes 9a is extremely small. The electro-optical device 100 is a reflective liquid crystal display device, and the pixel electrode 9a is formed of a light-reflective conductive film.
