<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an extremely high performance cavity resonator which is used without being mixed with an unnecessary resonance mode and whose no-load Q value is large, and to provide a high frequency filter. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The cavity resonator is constituted by providing a shielding cavity 2 manufactured by a conductor having the rotationally symmetric shape to a rotationally symmetric axis 3 with at least one input/output coupling means 1a, 1b for performing electromagnetic field coupling with an external circuit, wherein the shielding cavity 2 is composed of a part 5 in the cylindrical shape with fixed radial dimension at a part near one end side of an axial direction of the rotationally symmetric axis 3, and is composed of a rotationally symmetric part 6 in the hemisphere shape having radial dimension equal to or less than that of the cylindrical shape at other parts.
