<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with both high capacity and high load characteristics in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using a positive electrode active material having an olivine structure. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is manufactured by using the positive electrode active material wherein a lithium phosphoric acid compound having the olivine structure contains secondary particles coated by a carbon material by using a vapor growth method and an average particle diameter A of primary particles constituting the secondary particles is 50-500 nm and a ratio B/A between the average particle diameter A of the primary particles and a pore diameter B of a pore as an air gap existed between primary particles constituting the secondary particles is 0.10-0.90, preferably, 0.10-0.75.
