<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail head face shape measurement device and measurement method to efficiently and continuously measure the head face shape of a rail with high accuracy, without depending on an operator's intuition and reduce the data processing loads in a data processing apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: First and second two-dimensional displacement sensors are fixed to a sensor support member. The sensor support member is fixed to the moving base of a straight moving mechanism and measurement light, by using the angle part of a rail wheel tread as the measurement center is emitted to the head face of the rail, respectively from both sides of the rail. By moving the sensor support member, a two-dimensional measurement signal indicating the displacement from a predetermined reference position is obtained, by using the angle part of the rail wheel tread center as the measurement center.
