PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle detector, capable of automatically adjusting the sensitivity of a needle-detecting sensor even if the transfer speed of objects to be detected is altered and improving the productivity of sewn products. SOLUTION: The needle detector includes a drive motor for transferring the objects to be detected by a transfer belt; the needle-detecting sensor for detecting the passage of metals in the objects to be detected as changes in induced voltage; and a control part for adjusting the detection sensitivity of the induced voltage of the needle-detecting sensor and outputting it. The control part includes a speed control substrate for controlling the rotational speed of the drive motor and a digital main substrate, capable of storing a correlation curve (A) of a plurality of transfer speeds of a standard metal and sensitivities corresponding to the transfer speeds and a similar correlation curve (B or C) of a sample metal and setting a prescribed threshold value (K or K1) between both curves. When an object to be detected is transferred, optimal sensitivity corresponding to the set transfer speed of the object to be detected is automatically computed and set, on the basis of sensitivity acquired on the basis of both curves.
