PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave (SAW) device which reduces a loss by suppressing concentration of SAW energy in a gap area between a distal end of electrode fingers of interdigital electrode and a bus bar or dummy electrode fingers. SOLUTION: The invention relates to a SAW device including: at least a set of comb-shaped electrodes 20 formed on a piezoelectric substrate 10, each of which has a plurality of electrode fingers 12 and a bus bar 14 commonly connecting the plurality of electrode fingers 12, the plurality of electrode fingers 12 of the respective comb-shaped electrodes being set interdigitally; and an insulator 18 which is not embedded between the plurality of electrode fingers 12 but which is embedded and provided between distal ends of the plurality of the electrode fingers 12 and the bus bar 14.
