<p>A honeycomb structure having a columnar honeycomb unit containing zeolite and an inorganic binder, provided with multiple cells partitioned by a cell wall extending from a first end face to a second end face along the longitudinal direction thereof. The honeycomb structure is characterized in that the cell wall on its side of the first end face has a thickness greater than that of the cell wall at the middle of the honeycomb unit along the longitudinal direction thereof, and/or the cell wall on its side of the first end face has a porosity smaller than that of the cell wall at the middle of the honeycomb unit along the longitudinal direction thereof.</p>
