<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector with high detection accuracy of a position and a linear drive device. <P>SOLUTION: This position detector includes a stator having multiple magnetic pole rows, and a sensor device that moves in parallel relative to faces of the multiple magnetic pole rows of the stator and detects an orientation of a magnetic flux from the stator. The sensor device includes a magnetic sensitive face constituted by a plurality of spin bulb type huge magnetic resistance effect elements (the magnetic resistance effect element includes a fixed layer and a free layer, a magnetizing direction of the fixed layer is fixed, and a magnetizing direction of the free layer is rotated in response to the orientation of a magnetic field). The sensor device is provided at the stator in such a manner that the magnetic flux is made to intersect with the magnetic sensitive face and magnitudes of amplitudes of components of magnetic flux densities orthogonalized in the magnetic sensitive face are the same as each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
