<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation display of a washing machine, which has an excellent appearance, is configured such that the backlight of a liquid crystal panel is separated, and is capable of easily understandably and surely transmitting display contents to a user by lighting or putting out a backlight source as needed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The operation display includes a liquid crystal display panel 28, the backlight 33 having light sources 42 (43) for irradiating from the back surface of the liquid crystal display panel 28, and a controller 36. The backlight 33 is provided with at least two light sources 42 (43) for each display category, and by executing ON/OFF control for each light source 42 (43), the backlight 33 is switched on or off each display category on the same liquid crystal display panel 28.
