PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring manufacturing machine in which wire rods do not intervene in a quill when secondary fabrication such as rotation and bending is applied to the wire rods primarily processed. SOLUTION: In the spring manufacturing machine, the primarily processed wire rod is gripped by a gripping member and at the same time the quill 5 is retracted, a bending die 8e and a spindle installed to a frame 10 are separated from the quill 5, an appropriate space between the primarily processed wire rod and the quill 5 is provided, and the primarily processed wire rod is secondarily processed to avoid the wire rod to come into contact with the quill 5 in the secondary processing.
