A security device (10) includes a housing (14) with a chamber (22) defined by opposing sides (18a, 18b), opposite end walls (20a, 20b), a bottom wall (16), and a movable top member (26). The bottom wall (16) includes one or more openings (24) for receiving the body portions (44) of correspondingly-sized drug vials (12) while the openable top portions (46) of the vials (12) are securely retained inside the chamber (22). The top member (26) is lockable in a closed position to prevent unauthorized access to the top portions (46) of the vials (12). The body portions (44) of the vials (12) extend from the openings (24) in the bottom wall (16) and remain viewable and examinable while their top portions (46) are secured. The top member (26) is spaced from the bottom wall (16) to prevent the vials (12) from being pushed through the openings (24) and fully into the chamber (22), and also to permit the device (10) to be supported at a surface (S) by one or more of the drug vials (12). |
