PHASE PLATE FOR ELECTRON MICROSCOPE

A phase plate (19) for an electron microscope is disclosed. The phase plate (19) comprises a ring (13) of ferromagnetic material structured so as to retain a magnetic field aligned in the circumferential direction of the ring. The phase plate is disposed in- a path of electrons having passed, in use, an objective lens of the electron microscope.
