PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a magnetic recording medium which can reduce errors by making a surface of the magnetic recording medium smooth, and a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: When taking up a base film F which is to be treated with heat to a winding core S, the base film F is taken up by the winding core S by pressing a contact roller 22 heated to the temperature higher than room temperature against a periphery of the base film F taken up by the winding core S, Thereby back surface transference can be reduced and occurrence of errors can be reduced.
