Phenylacetamido-thiazole derivatives, process for their preparation and their use as antitumor agents

Disclosed is a phenylacetamido-thiazole derivative represented by formula (I) wherein: R is H or alkyl; R1 is as defined; R2 is H or alkyl; R3 is selected from amino, aminomethyl, hydroxymethyl, alkyl or a 5-6 membered heterocycle with 1 or 2 heteroatoms selected from N, O or S. Provided that when R is H, R3 is other than methyl, or pyridyl-3-yl. Also disclosed is the use compounds of formula (I) in the manufacture of a medicament for treating a cell proliferative disorder associated with an altered cell cycle dependent kinase activity. In particular disorders such as cancer, Alzheimer's disease, viral infections, auto-immune diseases and neurodegenerative disorders are disclosed.
