PURPOSE: A video file transmission and reception apparatus and a method thereof are provide to reduce the file size and the overhead of the terminal by preventing the same information from being duplicated. CONSTITUTION: The file, which includes the stereoscopic contents consisting of two or more tracks and the information for discriminating the duplication of the stereoscopic image related information of the stereoscopic contents, is generated. The file is transmitted to the receiver. The file including the information for discriminating the duplication of the stereoscopic image related information of the stereoscopic contents is received from the receiver. The stereoscopic image related information included in the file is analyzed. The stereoscopic contents is displayed.
