PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting leakage of a steam generator of an atomic power plant are provided to enhance sensitivity about leakage detection by detecting leakage without influence due to a fissile material. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and a method for detecting leakage of a steam generator of an atomic power plant includes a gamma radiation measuring device, a preamplifier, a rate meter, a computer, and a flowmeter. The gamma radiation measuring device is installed in an exhaust gas system pipe(10), and measures emission gamma ray energy of Ar-41. The preamplifier(22) amplifies the gamma ray signal of the Ar-41 measured by the gamma radiation measuring device. The rate meter(23) converts the gamma ray signal into a radioactive level. The computer(25) calculates and displays a leak rate of radioactivity through the radioactive signal. The flowmeter(27) is installed in the exhaust gas system pipe, and measures an amount of fluid inside the exhaust gas system pipe. |
