A text input method in a home server is provided to enable a user to conveniently input various characters, to improve user's convenience, and to remarkably increase exactness and swiftness of character input by receiving a short message, transmitted from a mobile phone, through a mobile communication network, displaying the received message in a text input window, and storing and managing it through a recording medium. In case of setting up a text input mode at a user's request, a home server judges whether a user selects a mobile phone mode(S10,S11). In case the user selects the mobile phone mode, the home server enables a CDMA module, accesses a mobile communication network, receives a short message received through the mobile communication network from the user's mobile phone, extracts/converts character data, and displays the extracted/converted character data on the text input window of a monitor(S13-S15). Afterwards, if the user requests a character storage or release request(S16), the home server stores the displayed characters in a recording medium or releases a display operation of the text input window(S17).
