The method involves transmitting traffic information (l1-l4) to a destination of a motor vehicle (V), where the information represent traffic types e.g. heavy traffic, on respective road segments. The average default speed associated with possible segments of a path is adjusted based on the traffic types, in case of reception of the traffic information. The path is dynamically determined based on the average default speed. An independent claim is also included for a device for guiding a motor vehicle, comprising a calculation unit.
