A control section controls a drive section such that the back angleα, i.e. the raised angle of back bottom, and the knee angleβ, i.e. the raised angle of knee bottom, vary along a preset pattern. The control section has a section for storing a plurality of patterns which connect a coordinate point (0, 0) in the (α,β) coordinate where each bottom is in horizontal state and a coordinate point (α0,β0) where the back bottom is raised by a plurality of points, a section for selecting one of the plurality of patterns in the storage section, and an operating section for controlling the drive section such that the back angleαand the knee angleβvary according to a pattern selected at the selecting section. Consequently, even when the physical attributes of a person to be taken care of are different from the mattress attributes, the person to be taken care of can be prevented surely from being shifted on the bed and can be prevented from having a sense of being oppressed at the abdomen and the chest.
