PAR LAMP WITH SHORT-ARC HID BULB AND CUT-OUT IN ALUMINUM TO PREVENT ARC DISCHARGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp (100) capable of restraining arc discharge without having any adverse effect on lamp performance and preferably on cost.

SOLUTION: The lamp (100) includes a light source (102) requiring high voltage for starting. A reflecting mirror (104) includes a conductive reflecting surface (112) directed so as to receive light from the light source and make the light turn to the desired direction. A preselected surface section (112b) of the reflecting mirror body has no conductive reflecting surface. First and second lead wire assemblies (124, 126) connected with the light source and supplying power to the light source penetrate through openings in the reflecting mirror body. The lead wire assemblies are spaced from the conductive reflecting surface section by the preselected surface section having no reflective material in order to prevent arc discharge. Asymmetrical lead wire assemblies may also be advantageously used to increase electric isolation.
