<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide use of an isolated protein complex comprising Tsg101 (tumor sensitive gene 101), and HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) GAG or GAGp6. <P>SOLUTION: The Tsg101 interacts with the HIV GAGp6. A protein complex formed by the Tsg101 and the HIV GAG or GAGp6, as well as the Tsg101 alone, is used in screening assays for selecting compounds modulating functions and activity of the Tsg101, and a protein complex comprising the Tsg101, and the HIV GAG or GAGp6. The identified compounds are useful in inhibiting lentivirus propagation (particularly HIV propagation), and in treating HIV infection and AIDS. The protein complex can be utilized in the screening assays for selecting the compounds effective in modulating the Tsg101-HIV GAG, or GAGp6 interaction in the protein complex. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
