<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device capable of materializing rich operation reducing NOx contained in exhaust gas from an engine 1 by using EGR introduction, and inhibiting emission of unburned fuel and soot by securing combustion stability right after engine start or under low temperature environment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This device is provided with a fuel reformer 50 separately from an exhaust passage 4 of the engine 1, a first introduction passage 57 for introducing gas having reduction properties formed by a fuel reformer 50 into the exhaust passage 4 from an upstream side of an NOx elimination catalyst 32 in the exhaust passage 4, and a second introduction passage 58 for introducing the gas into an intake passage 2.
