<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner in which the shielding of laser light due to dust entering into the optical scanner or attaching on a dust proof glass is suppressed and a fatal image defect is suppressed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A representative configuration of the optical scanner comprises: a semiconductor laser unit 1; a rotating polygon mirror 3; the main body of an optical box 10 which houses the semiconductor laser unit 1 and the rotating polygon mirror 3 and has a long open part 14 through which laser light scanned with the rotating polygon mirror 3 passes; a cover 11; the long dust proof glass 12 which blocks the open part 14, wherein the optical box has ribs 15a and 15b which are longer than the open part 14 along the longitudinal direction of the open part 14 on both outsides in the short side direction of the open part 14, respectively, and an adhesive 16 is continuously applied between the ribs 15a and 15b and the dust proof glass 12 in a longer distance than the open part 14.
