<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor improved in lubrication performance by increasing a supply quantity of lubrication oil and having high efficiency. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A pump mechanism 7 formed in a main shaft 11 of a shaft 10 journaled to a bearing 20 includes a cylindrical bore 111 which has a lower end opening from a lower end of the shaft to a part corresponding to the bearing and is formed parallel to the shaft center of the main shaft, a communication hole 18 bringing an upper end of the cylindrical bore into communication with the outside in a radial direction, a throttling section 17 which has a throttling hole 171 of a smaller diameter than the cylindrical bore in a central portion and is formed at the opening end of the cylindrical bore, and an agitator 19 provided in the cylindrical bore adjacent to the throttling section, and is constituted so that a radius R of the opening end of the cylindrical bore and a length h from an opening end of the main shaft to the communication hole satisfies a relationship of 5.25×10<SP>-4</SP><R<SP>2</SP>/h.
