Disclosed herein is an osteogenic synthetic peptide, derived from bone morphogenet i c protein-7, consisting of a sequence of 15 amino acid residues (BFP 1). Provided are also a pharmaceutical composition and a medium composition comprising the same. Having remarkable activity related to promoting osteoblast differentiation, the osteogenic synthetic peptide is very useful in the treatment of osteoporosis, bone defects and/or osteoarthritis.
