MEMBRANE ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

Disclosed is a membrane electrode assembly (100) comprising an electrolyte membrane (101), a fuel electrode (102) formed on one surface of the electrolyte membrane (101), and an air electrode (103) formed on the other surface of the electrolyte membrane (101).  The membrane electrode assembly (100) has, at least at one edge, a lateral surface which is a continuous surface configured of at least an end face of the fuel electrode (102), an end face of the electrolyte membrane (101) and an end face of the air electrode (103), and the lateral surface is covered with an insulating sealing layer (104).  A method for producing the membrane electrode assembly is also disclosed.
