<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for observing a crystal in which crystallization can be quickly and economically performed on various crystallization conditions using a very small amount of sample, and the crystal precipitation can be observed over a long period of time of two months or more even by using the very small amount of sample. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A protein crystallization device comprises a microplate 24 provided with a plurality of crystallization sections 32 and depressed portions 34 partitioning each of the crystallization sections 32 and a microarray 18 having a plurality of crystallizing agent holding parts 16 containing a protein crystallizing agent in the position corresponding to the crystallization sections 32. The method for observing a crystal uses the protein crystallization device and comprises an assembling step of receiving the microarray 18 in a support 20 and superposing the support 20 and the microplate 24, a water filling step of filling the depressed portion with water after the assembling step, and an observation step of observing the precipitated crystal through the microplate after the water filling step.
