<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism capable of stably conveying a sheet, even if a plurality of sheets rush into a nip formed between a conveying roller and a separating roller. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A sheet feeding device is provided with the conveying roller 5 for conveying the sheet S by rotating with a shaft as a center, the separating roller 6 for separating one sheet of the plurality of sheets S held between the separating roller and the conveying roller 5 by rotating or non-rotating in the same direction as the rotating direction of the conveying roller 5 with the shaft as a center in such a state that the plurality of sheets S are held between the separating roller and the conveying roller 5, an oscillating member 7 for supporting the shaft of the separating roller 6 or the conveying roller 5 and oscillating in a direction for approaching or separating the separating roller 6 and the conveying roller 5, and an oscillation regulating member 25 for regulating the oscillation of the oscillating member 7 so that a distance between a cylindrical surface of the conveying roller 5 and the separating roller 6 may not be larger than a certain threshold value.
