A differential is described which comprises at least one differential gear that is mounted so as to be rotatable about the longitudinal axis of a differential journal. Said differential further comprises a drive shaft which forms an input member and is effectively connected to the differential journal in order to jointly twist the differential journal and the differential gear about a transverse axis extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of the differential journal. Furthermore, a first gear forming an output member and a second gear are provided, the first gear having a first set of teeth and the second gear having a second set of teeth which both mesh with a set of teeth of the differential gear. The set of teeth of the differential gear encompasses two concentric tooth zones which form a third and a fourth set of teeth of the differential gear, the third set of teeth lying closer to the transverse axis than the fourth set of teeth. The first set of teeth of the first gear meshes with the third set of teeth of the differential gear, while the second set of teeth of the second gear meshes with the fourth set of teeth of the differential gear.
