An adapter for mounting a binocular on a tripod is characterized in that the adapter comprises a pedestal part having such a width that the right and left lens-barrels of the binocular placed on the pedestal part are brought into contact with the pedestal part and restricting the rotation of the binocular about the center of the joint axis for connecting the pair of lens-barrels; and a support part including a connection means which is so formed as to project upward from the surface of the pedestal part with which the lens-barrels are brought into contact and which is connected to the joint shaft, and restricting the movement of the binocular in the optical axis direction.
