PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program selection candidate channel providing method can facilitate program selection of a channel. SOLUTION: Each time a channel is program-selected, a television 1 obtains data about the latest date/time of program selection and the number of times of program selection and stores the data as program selection information. If a candidate channel providing function is valid, each time a number for channel program selection is input for each digit of a channel number, channels of program selection candidates are predetermined and provided in accordance with predetermined prediction conditions from among channel numbers including input numbers of respective digits. Specifically, if the candidate channel providing function is valid, candidate channels are predetermined in accordance with the priority of channels having the large number of times of program selection represented in program selection time information, channels of each of which the date/time of program selection represented in latest program selection date/time information is close to the current date/time, or channels of each of which the time of program selection represented in latest program selection date/time information is close to the current time.
