PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect disconnection of a signal line of an encoder and displacement of a connector in regard to an elevator provided with a single end output type encoder for detecting position and speed of a cage of an elevator. SOLUTION: A signal line 4 of an encoder 3 is connected to a control device 1 loaded with a CPU 2. Separately from this signal line 4, a power source line 8 forming a predetermined line between the control device 1 and the encoder 3 is connected to provide a disconnection detecting circuit in the control device 1. The power source line 8 is structured to form a line, which supplies a power source from the control device 1 to the encoder 3 and returns to the control device 1 by looping a processing substrate of the encoder 3. The disconnection detecting circuit is structured to convert an output signal of the power source line 8, which is returned from the encoder 3 to the control device 1, to a digital signal and to input that signal to the CPU 2.
