The damping system has a pneumatic spring (102) and an energy storage (104) which is coupled with the pneumatic spring. The pneumatic spring is formed in order to provide a force against a compression direction of the pneumatic spring. The energy storage is formed in order to provide a force against the expansion direction of the pneumatic spring. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an axle assembly with a control lever; and (2) a method for lifting an axle of a vehicle.
