PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method are provided to allow customers to answer the phone call in any place by providing the wire call signal through an intelligent network. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a trunk matching unit(21) for matching a trunk with an exchange; a dial tone providing unit for providing, through the trunk, a dial tone to the calling side in response to the calling signal transmitted from the calling exchange; a dual tone multi-frequency receiving unit(24) for receiving, through the trunk, the dual tone multi-frequency dialed by the calling party who has subscribed the permanent identification service; a local signal processing unit(25) for performing a signaling process for connection to the destination exchange in accordance with the result of translation of the received dual tone multi-frequency; and a number converting unit for converting the virtual local number of the corresponding calling terminal into a permanent number and transmitting the converted number to the destination exchange when the destination exchange has requested a caller identification.
