PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device continuing assist control within a possible range of assist control as much as possible by determining whether the assist control can be performed or not caused by the memory abnormality when a memory abnormality is detected, and stopping the assist control only when the assist control cannot be performed due to the memory abnormality. SOLUTION: In the power steering device, calculation and control are performed by a control unit having a memory, and the assist control of a steering system of a vehicle is performed by driving a motor. The power steering device comprises: a memory abnormality detection part detecting an abnormality of the memory; and the assist permission/prohibition determination part determining whether or not the assist control can be performed based on an abnormal state detected by the memory abnormality detection part.
