A single-ring piston ring and its sealing method for engines or reciprocating working machines is provided. The single-ring piston ring (B) at the inner side of a piston ring groove can seal its radial notch clearance. The lateral mechanical clearance of the piston ring groove and the sliding clearance between the circular periphery of the piston ring groove and the cylinder wall can be sealed by the single-ring piston ring (B) cooperated with a pressure ring (T). The advantages of the single-ring piston ring include advanced sealing function, less machining steps and low cost.
