PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber grating preparing method and an optical fiber grating preparing device which does not require a vibration countermeasure or the like and is convenient and reliable. SOLUTION: The optical fiber grating preparing method comprises: a process (S110) of covering the circumference of an optical fiber with a thermoplastic ultraviolet transmitting resin; a process (S120) of heating and softening the applied thermoplastic ultraviolet transmitting resin; a process (S130) of pressing a phase modulation pattern mold on which a phase modulation pattern is graved, against a softened and heated part of the thermoplastic ultraviolet transmitting resin; a process (S140) of cooling the softened and heated part of the thermoplastic ultraviolet transmitting resin up to a curable temperature; and a process (S150) of separating the phase modulation pattern mold from the thermoplastic ultraviolet transmitting resin, whereby the phase modulation pattern is transferred to the thermoplastic ultraviolet transmitting resin.
