PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein even if an image forming apparatus goes into sleeping state once, returns to an operating state from the sleeping state, immediately by the input of a job, with the result that sufficient power-saving effect cannot be obtained. SOLUTION: For a job instructed to print urgently, the image forming apparatus applies an immediate print mark and performs printing immediately; a job that does not have immediate print mark is put on standby; and in printing for a job marked to use the immediate printing function, printing for a job on standby is subsequently carried out; and this reduces the number of transitions between the sleeping state and operating state, thereby realizing power saving.
