PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which, when aβ-pinene-based polymer is hydrogenated, achieves a high hydrogenation reaction rate even using an approach to high production efficiency per hour and per volume without permitting an undesirable side reaction to proceed. SOLUTION: A hydrogenation method is provided, which in a reaction obtaining aβ-pinene-based polymer by converting unsaturated bonds present in main chains and/or side chains of a polymer containing 30 mass% or more of aβ-pinene unit into saturated bonds by a hydrogenation reaction, comprises treating a polymer solution fed to the hydrogenation reaction with hydrogen gas under a pressurized condition of 1 MPa or above before feeding the polymer solution to a reaction step, and then conducting the hydrogenation reaction by a continuous reaction system feeding the polymer continuously under a hydrogenation reaction condition involving a metal-supported hydrogenating catalyst or by a semi-continuation system.
