METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SUPPORTING QOS IN RESIDENTIAL ETHERNET SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for managing QoS(Quality of Service) in a synchronous Ethernet system are provided to improve a VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) service quality by guaranteeing constant QoS of a wireless EDGE(Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution) network. A classifier(52) classifies a queue of predetermined synchronous or asynchronous packets according to a PHB(Per-Hop Behavior) value of a DSCP(Differentiated Service Code Point) of an ingress packet, and buffers the classified result. A buffer queue(54) includes plural queues according to a priority and buffers the respective packets which are classified by the classifier. A marker(56) marks a synchronous tag on the buffered packets, or marks a predetermined format on the asynchronous packet according to the priority. A synchronous Ethernet scheduler(58) schedules the marked packets and outputs the scheduled packets.
