The unit (10) has a drive i.e. electric drive (12), and a transmission (23) for driving a rotor i.e. compressor rotor, of a turbomachine, where the transmission is implemented as a planetary transmission and a compressor wheel shaft (32). The transmission has a hollow wheel (16) that forms the rotor of the electric drive. The electric drive has a stator (14) with windings and enclosing the hollow wheel serving as a rotor of the electric drive. The transmission has a planetary wheel with teeth or a planetary drive (24) that is designed as friction wheels.
